Canadian-Made vs. Imported RV Mattresses: What's the Difference?

Canadian-Made vs. Imported RV Mattresses: What's the Difference?

When you're shopping for an RV mattress, you'll find two kinds: mattresses made overseas and shipped to Canada, and mattresses made right here.

The price difference can look significant at first glance. But once you understand what you're actually comparing, the picture changes.

Here's what Canadian RV owners should know.

What "Imported" Usually Means

Most low-to-mid-priced RV mattresses sold in Canada are manufactured overseas — primarily in China or Southeast Asia — and shipped here in bulk.

That's not automatically a problem. But it does mean a few things:

Foam certifications vary. In Canada, CertiPUR-US® is the standard for foam quality and safety — it means the foam has been tested for harmful chemicals, emissions, and durability. Not all imported mattresses carry this certification. Some do, many don't. It's worth checking.

Quality control is harder to verify. When a mattress is made overseas, there's more distance between you and the factory — literally and figuratively. What you see in photos and what arrives in a box aren't always the same.

Lead times can be long. Supply chain delays are real. An imported mattress ordered today might take weeks to arrive, especially for custom sizes.

No one to call if something's wrong. If there's an issue with your mattress — a defect, a warranty claim, a sizing problem — you want someone who picks up the phone and can actually help. That's harder with overseas manufacturers.

What Canadian-Made Means

A Canadian-made mattress is built here, by Canadians, under Canadian quality and safety standards.

The Georgian is manufactured by Springwall, a company that's been making mattresses in Canada for decades. Every Georgian is:

  • Built with CertiPUR-US® certified foam — tested and verified
  • Made to order, not mass-produced and warehoused
  • Reviewed for fit before manufacturing begins (we personally confirm your measurements)
  • Backed by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty
  • Shipped free across most of Canada — no import delays, no customs surprises

What About Price?

Let's be honest: Canadian-made mattresses cost more than the cheapest imported options. That's true.

But the comparison isn't quite apples to apples.

A $300 imported RV mattress with no foam certification, no warranty support, and a 4" profile is not the same product as a 10", CertiPUR-US® certified, made-to-order mattress with a 10-year warranty and a Canadian support team behind it.

The Georgian starts at $1,099 CAD for an RV Queen. For RV owners who've spent $50,000 to $150,000 or more on their rig, that's a worthwhile investment in the part of the experience that happens every single night.

The Question Worth Asking

When you're comparing mattresses, the right question isn't just "which one is cheaper?"

It's: which one will I still be happy with in three years?

A mattress that costs half as much but needs replacing in two seasons isn't the better deal. A mattress that's built to last, fitted to your exact RV, and backed by a real warranty is.

That's why we built The Georgian the way we did.
